In the Courts of the LORD'S House - Psalms 116:19

In Psalms one hundred sixteen the Psalmist said, “I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD. I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people, ...”, and in chapter one hundred sixteen and verse nineteen of Psalms the Psalmist said, “in the courts of the LORD'S house” where we read,

In the courts of the LORD'S house, in the midst of you, O Jerusalem. Praise you the LORD.

The verse begins with the words, In the courts of the LORD'S house, in the midst of you, O Jerusalem. The Psalmist began with the words, “in the courts” or “within the enclosure, settled abode and yard” “of the LORD'S house” which means “belonging to the dwelling, abode, habitation and temple of Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “in the midst of you” or “within the middle of you, city of Jerusalem”, “O Jerusalem” whose name means “teaching of peace and is the chief city of Palestine and capital of the united kingdom and the nation of Judah after the split from the twelve tribes of Israel”. The Psalmist said he would “pay his vows unto the LORD” in the “presence of” Jehovah God's people, and within God's temple in the middle of “Jerusalem”.

The verse continues, “Praise you the LORD.” The Psalmist added the words, “praise you” or “shine forth, be boastful, commend and celebrate you, people reading and listening to the Psalmist's words” “the LORD” which means “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. The Psalmist instructed his readers and listeners to adore, commend and celebrate Jehovah God.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist determined to give his votive offerings to Jehovah God in front of the people and within God's temple in Jerusalem. God is worthy to be honored and adored for who He is and because He sent His Son Jesus to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we surrender our lives to Him as our personal “Lord and Savior”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to join the people who “praise” and celebrate Him for all eternity.

Next time we begin a new chapter and see the Psalmist say, “O praise the LORD, all you nations”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
