Gracious is the LORD - Psalms 116:5

In Psalms one hundred sixteen the Psalmist said, “The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell got hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow. Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, I beseech you, deliver my soul”, and in chapter one hundred sixteen and verse five of Psalms the Psalmist said, “gracious is the LORD” where we read,

Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yes, our God is merciful.

The verse begins with the words, Gracious is the LORD, and righteous;. The Psalmist began with the word, “gracious” or “benignant and merciful” “is the LORD” which means “exists Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “and righteous” or “and just, lawful, correct and right”. The Psalmist declared Jehovah God to be merciful and just.

The verse goes on to say, “yes, our God is merciful.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “yes, our God” or “even so and indeed, our, the Psalmist and his people's, Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God” “is merciful” which means “exists as affectionate, compassionate, deeply loving and pitiful”. The Psalmist emphasized that he and his people's Divine judge and ruler exists as affectionate and deeply loving.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist proclaimed that Jehovah God is merciful, just, lawful, compassionate and deeply loving. God loves us, and He proved it when He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him as our “Lord and Savior”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and demonstrate His compassion toward us throughout all eternity.

Next time the Psalmist says, “the LORD preserves the simple”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
